CHONK

Flagship Fuzz that likes making friends!

I’d like you to meet Chonk.

Chonk is a one-knob fuzz based around a Bazz Fuss circuit, one of the simplest fuzz circuits out there. On its own, it produces a gated, sputtery fuzz best suited for the lows of bass guitar, for which it was originally designed. It also works just fine with electric guitar, best responding to open and bar chords, as well as notes below the twelfth fret. The harder you hit it, the harder it goes.

However, like all of us, Chonk doesn’t do best by itself. Chonk does best when it’s surrounded by friends. This is a pedal designed to play well with others.

With a buffer ahead of it (like a Boss tuning pedal), Chonk opens up with welcoming arms, letting notes sustain for longer, letting chords settle sweeter, letting the low end cut through better. Throw an overdrive in front of it, and listen to how Chonk keeps your harmonic content, how leads scream and low-end chugs feel thick and disgusting. Even just a little boost beforehand can saturate chords and let those sputters be characteristic instead of something to avoid.

This isn’t some old school fuzz to leave at the front of your signal chain. Let her wander around your board a little bit. See where she wants to settle in.

Controls:

One knob for volume. Turn it clockwise, she gets louder. Real loud. Unity may differ from pedal to pedal.

Footswitch turns Chonk on or off. No trim-pots, no little switches, no endless array of knobs. Just stomp and fucking rip.

Center-negative 2.1mm barrel standard power supply.
