Transparent overdrive that doesn't bite unless you want her to!

This is Translucid.

Translucid is a transparent transistor-based low-gain overdrive. What do all these buzzwords even mean??

The skeleton of the circuit is based off of the Electra Distortion, a very simple transistor distortion circuit. Many pedals have been based off this base circuit, including EQD’s Speaker/Special Cranker, and Lovepedal’s COT 50. These circuits typically utilize a transistor to push two hard-clipping diodes, producing a nice, touch sensitive overdrive that is reminiscent of the kind of responses you get from a tube amp.

Translucid takes those old bones, and makes them her own. Her increased bass response simply fills out your tone and saturates it without becoming muddy, and a total of four clipping diodes keeps you right in that low-gain sweet spot. With a tone control to keep those highs and lows in check, Translucid is ready to be your newest always-on overdrive.

While she’s just fine being a set-and-forget, take some time to learn what Translucid can offer. Play around with her a bit, she doesn’t bite unless you want her to. She’ll remain clean with Mean set anywhere up until noon, but after that she’ll start to get nice and dirty.

Translucid stacks really well with other pedals, and whether it’s fuzz, distortion, or mid gain overdrives, the increased amount of clipping diodes means that she’ll play nice with just about anything without getting too fuzzy or compressed, keeping your tone exactly how you like it. Translucid won’t take away from your sound, she’ll just make you sound more like you!

Controls:

Mean: Interact with this like you would a gain knob. Left is cleaner, right is meaner.

Pretty: Tone control. To the left subtracts treble frequencies, to the right adds them back in.

Loud: This is the volume. Very interactive with the Mean knob. Unity will vary based on where Mean is set.

Footswitch turns Translucid on or off. 9 volt Center-negative 2.1mm barrel standard power supply at the top.
